SAFARI AT A GLANCE

Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks – Established in 1948, Tsavo East is one of Kenya’s largest and oldest parks, famous for its vast open plains, the iconic “red elephants”, and the Yatta Plateau, the world’s longest lava flow. Rich in history, the park was part of ancient trade routes and is famously linked to the man-eating lions during the construction of the Kenya-Uganda Railway. Just west of Tsavo East, Tsavo West National Park offers dramatic landscapes of volcanic hills, lava fields, and underground springs, including the stunning Mzima Springs, home to hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species. Both parks provide unforgettable safari experiences, with abundant wildlife including elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and a rich diversity of birds. Amboseli National Park, Declared a national reserve in 1948 and a national park in 1974, Amboseli is renowned as the “Land of Giants” for its majestic large-tusked elephants set against the breathtaking backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. Historically, the area is the homeland of the Maasai people and was once a hunters’ paradise before becoming a conservation haven championed by wildlife researcher Cynthia Moss. Amboseli offers spectacular landscapes, exceptional wildlife viewing, and a chance to experience the rich cultural heritage of the Maasai, making it one of Kenya’s most iconic safari destinations.
